The sight of Mumbai local trains always takes me back to the time when I was studying for my Chartered Accountancy (CA) course between 1996 1998. Almost three decades back!
It is said that local trains are the lifeline of Mumbai. For me, they are that part of my life that was filled with much hard work.
For those familiar with Mumbai, we stay in Vile Parle, on the Western rail line - I am talking of a world before the metro when we had three rail lines Western, Central and Harbour.
I had done my schooling locally so there was no need to travel by train barring a few odd trips every few months to visit my uncle in "town" the area around Churchgate station, the southern-most tip of Mumbai.
Thankfully, my college was close to our house, another reason to not take trains frequently.
Once I completed my junior college, I enrolled myself for the CA course with its registered institute headquartered in Delhi and its western region branch in Mumbai at Nariman Point, Churchgate.

Wood Apple / Kapith
Wood apple or Goddess of forest (feronia elephantum) also known as Kapith in Sanskrit, Kothu or Keith is still available in the Indian cities thanks to the street vendors who sell seasonal berries, star fruit and other such foods.
