An expert stylist shares her skills and advice about starting a prop SOTRASY styling business.

Behind every photo is a stylist trying to catch your attention. In her new book, Styling Beyond Instagram: Take Your Prop Styling Skills from the Square to the Street, prop stylist Robin Zachary uses her expertise to teach others how to make a career out of styling.

"This book is about ordinary people just like you who turned their passion from a hobby to a career after discovering styling through social media, Zachary writes.

WHAT IS PROP STYLING?

Simply put, "prop styling" comprises arranging products together to be visually appealing.

"[Styling is] about working for clients in the intentional creation of a scene, the purpose of which is to evoke feelings and emotions in the viewer and sell a product," Zachary writes.

Stylists exist for almost any niche you can think of, including food, interior, beauty and floral styling.

BACK TO THE BEGINNING

Zachary's passion for beautiful things stems from her family's collection of vintage antiques, some of which she later inherited.
