The navy blue paneling, built-ins and trim lend a monochromatic effect to her home office, complementing the live-edge desk from Phillips Collection. "We wanted the room to feel moody and sophisticated," says designer and homeowner Heather Lucas.

The green vanity (Benjamin Moore's Dakota Shadow) and the Moroccan rug add personality to the spacious primary bathroom, located on the second floor of the home's addition.

Transitional spaces don't have to be bereft of personality. Lucas chose prints by photographer Alastair Magnaldo and a cascading light fixture to bring a touch of whimsy to the bright white hallway outside her children's bedrooms.

It was love at first sight when designer Heather Lucas found her nearly 100-year-old Los Angeles home. "We pictured ourselves out front in rockers, watching the sunset in the evening," says Lucas, who shares the house with her husband and their 12and 13-year-old children.
