BUYING A NEW BOILER ISN’T THE MOST EXCITING PROSPECT, BUT HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW WHEN THE TIME COMES

Having to replace your boiler isn’t all bad news. A new boiler can be more efficient than older models, meaning you may end up saving money in the long run thanks to reduced running costs. It’s worth remembering that whenever you replace a boiler, whether with a like-for-like model or a completely new type of boiler, you will incur the cost for the new boiler, plus parts and labour, and in some cases, the removal and waste disposal of old parts.

COMBI BOILERS

If you’re replacing your current combi boiler with a new model, this is a relatively straightforward installation. Combi boilers provide heating and hot water on demand from a single unit, typically hung on the wall, inside a kitchen cupboard.

SYSTEM BOILERS

A system boiler, which uses a cylinder to store hot water, is designed for larger properties requiring a constant supply of hot water. In this case, more space is needed for the cylinder and there will be more parts to replace. However, assuming you only need to change the system boiler unit itself, the job can be relatively straightforward.
