A spirit of collaboration and camaraderie could be keenly felt at the seventh Singapore edition of the Tatler Homes Design Awards. Held on June 27, the annual awards ceremony highlights the outstanding projects completed by Singapore-based designers and architects; over a dozen winners were recognised during the awards dinner at the Claymore Ballroom in Pan Pacific Orchard.
It was an emotional moment for many—the winners recounted the manifold challenges caused by the pandemic, while toasting to the importance of having good collaborators who helped make each and every project a success.
PERFECT MATCH
Many firms cited the importance of having the clients’ continued support as well as a collaborative creative vision. “Without [the homeowners] Caroline and Andrew [Webster], I think we would not be able to have such a fantastic house and interior,” said Edmund Ng, founder of Edmund Ng Architects, who bagged the Best Use of Art accolade that night.
Gareth Low, associate at Farm, was also inspired by the style and personal taste of homeowners Joan Chang and Ngiam Juyong when designing their award-winning house; Chang runs Lloyd’s Inn and had commissioned the local firm to turn their house into a minimalist sanctuary that reflects the couple’s love of the outdoors and her hospitality group’s brand ethos. “I would like to take the opportunity to thank our co-designers, who are the owners of this house… We hope that this place will bring you a lot of wonderful memories,” said Low.
