STEP INSIDE...
WHO LIVES HERE?
I'm Zoe Stillwell, 47, an events planner, and I live here with my husband Ben, a production manager, daughter Lilly, 14, and son Freddie, 11. We moved into our three-bedroom home in Stotfold, Bedfordshire seven years ago.
WHAT WAS UPDATED?
We gave it a more neutral colour scheme, fitted larger wardrobes and added a better working area.
WHY THE CHANGE?
Lilly's bedroom had been the same since we moved in. The room hadn't really grown with Lilly and she wanted an area to work in as she was about to start her GCSEs.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE?
We set ourselves a goal of getting it finished in four weeks and thankfully we hit our target.
TOTAL COST £1,525
Zoe and Ben Stillwell bought their three-bedroom home in 2016 and spent a year renovating it. While the house was a dream buy, it needed lots of work and we had to live with my parents for six months, as everything from the electrics to the plumbing needed to be fixed,' explains Zoe. However, this did mean they could improve some of the existing room layouts to better suit their needs. Lilly's bedroom was a good size, but originally featured an airing cupboard which took up lots of space. As her room was next to the bathroom, they blocked up the cupboard in Lilly's room, and then used the cupboard space to create a bigger bathroom with a walk-in shower. 'It worked a treat, and we went on to decorate Lilly's room in sugary colours perfect for a seven-year-old,' recalls Zoe.
