When Idris Khan and Ali Reza Kavoossi first arrived at the studio in unison, one could easily mistake them for brothers. Despite coming from different families and cultural backgrounds, they both share many similarities, from their choice of style to their choice of career - both Idris and Ali started out as models and have since successfully transitioned to acting.
Muhammad Idris bin Abdullah Ghaffar, who started modelling at the age of 18, is now one of the more seasoned celebrities in the nation. Taking on his grandfather’s last name as part of his stage name, Idris Khan is an instantly recognisable name in the local industry.
“I was scouted, and my career started from then on, I was 18 at that time. Right after school,” he said. “It’s been a progressive journey in my career. I picked up modelling as a side gig. But my career in modelling grew and I eventually progressed to acting.”
Since then, Idris has been featured in several television drama series and films including Duda Terlajak Laris, Abang Sado Jemur Kain and Puteri Gunung Ledang. His most recent act would be Jangan Lupa Aku Cinta Padamu, which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime.
Discussing his growth in acting, the actor shared that the journey has indeed been a long and fruitful one, and it’s something that he didn’t think he’d ever get into. At the start of his career, the star expressed his dissatisfaction with his acting skills.
Now at 36 years old, Idris has a different opinion on that matter. “I feel more confident now, of course,” he said. “When I work on something, I always strive to be better at it. I don’t like to be stagnant in growth and I believe my perseverance has started to pay off. But of course, there’s always room to improve.”
