FLUIDITY IN FASHION

Architect and potter Glen Pang views fashion as an essential part of life, a way to express oneself. He loves donning clothes that simply match his flamboyant taste, regardless of whether they are from the men's or women's section.

What was your profession before pottery?

I have a background in architecture. I studied and started working in the U.S. in that field. I came back to Malaysia in 2008 and I started working at an architecture firm for four to five years before I came out on my own.

That was also when my love for fashion really came into light. I've always loved fashion, but it was after I quit that job of mine that I started exploring. I now do interior projects and pottery has become a hobby of mine.

Share with us about this small pottery business of yours.

I don't really see this venture of mine as a business as all I wanted really was to get rid of my creations. Because there's really no reason to keep all the things that you've created. So, at my first open studio, the goal was mainly to sell my work. Since then, I've gotten a little more serious about it.

Tsutaya Books even invited me to showcase my creations during their opening. The next open studio would be my fourth, and I'd usually send out invitations to my followers and friends to join. It's been fun! I didn't think it would become what it is now.
