IN MANY WAYS, the written word is a medium of miracles. Because through it, we can exchange thoughts without ever speaking a word. We can package entire stories into books or envelopes and send them across the world. We can even travel through time, simply by opening any of the classics from millennia ago.
This is the spirit that Montblanc Haus looks to preserve and encourage. It’s a celebration of writing, a beacon of inspiration for the art. And make no mistake, writing is an art. But to do so with the iconic writing instruments from the Maison is sublime.
Opened in 2022, the Montblanc Haus welcomes visitors to explore the value of writing. This 3,600 square-metred space, designed by Nieto Sobejanos Architectos, spans over three storeys and is aptly located just beside Montblanc’s headquarters where the iconic Meisterstück are crafted.
The rectangular building may seem unassuming at first, but it actually takes inspiration from the historical shape of the packaging for writing instruments, with the silhouette of Mont Blanc carved into its side.
To enter the building is to walk into the world of writing. But before we delve deeper into the building’s different sections, it’s important to note how Montblanc is playing its part in perpetuating the art, and it does this by offering classes to visitors, including everything from calligraphy to creative writing.
The Maison also hosts special classes dedicated to disadvantaged children and young adults to inspire them to express themselves through words.
