To help the tourism industry in Finland to adopt sustainable practices, Visit Finland has developed ‘Sustainable Travel Finland’. It is a programme designed for tourism companies and destinations in Finland which provides a concrete toolkit for sustainable tourism that makes it easier to adopt sustainable practices and choices in everyday business. Finland is not the easiest location to reach by ecological travel options, like train, however there are few effective tips that you can easily do before and during your trip: Packing light, travel outside peak seasons to stay longer, use public transportations as the destination is well-connected by bus and train (uses renewable energy) routes, experience local lifestyle, drink tap water and forget about everything else for a moment to try what it feels to be like a Finn.
