NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB, priced at US$399, looked set to make a significant splash in the mid-range gaming market. It quite literally follows the footsteps of its well-valued predecessor, the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, which remains, in my opinion, the best value for money GPU of the last generation. However, recommending the RTX 4060 Ti 8GB is not as straightforward. NVIDIA’s technical decisions, such as reducing core counts and modifying the memory subsystem, have optimised the card for 1080p, but limited its appeal for 1440p gaming. And with just 8GB of memory, it may not handle all games at maximum settings, even at 1080p.
There is a 16GB version of the RTX 4060 Ti available coming July, but that would cost US$499, which is quite a premium top up.
