The festival has now made Goa its home for over two decades, with 2024 marking the 21st year of hosting this glamorous event. Held from November 20th to 28th, the festival continues to attract film enthusiasts and industry professionals from all corners of the globe, solidifying Goa's position as a prominent cultural hub.

One of the most exciting aspects of this year's festival was its theme, "Young Filmmakers-The Future is Now." This new focus brought forward the newly introduced award category for "Best Debut Director of Indian Feature Film," aimed at celebrating fresh voices in the industry. This initiative highlights the importance of fostering new talent and offering a platform for diverse cinematic perspectives.
The category recognized first-time filmmakers from across India, including films in languages such as Manipuri, Kannada, and Marathi, encouraging future generations to pursue their filmmaking dreams.
Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award
Another significant highlight of IFFI 2024 was the prestigious Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award, presented to renowned Australian director Philip Noyce. Known for his exceptional storytelling and mastery of suspense, Noyce has directed several iconic films, including "Patriot Games," "Clear and Present Danger," "Salt," "The Saint," "The Bone Collector," and many others. His work has had a lasting impact on global cinema, and the award served as a fitting tribute to his contribution to the art of filmmaking.
