To her fellow bandmates from the Seekers, Judith Durham was just like their "little sister", but to the rest of Australia, she was a musical giant with a powerful voice that defined an era.

During the 1960s, the Seekers were every bit as big, if not bigger, than the Beatles when they started notching up number one hits with their beautiful folk harmonies.

Heartbroken bandmate and close friend Athol Guy says you could look forever and not find a more perfect voice for folk singing than Judith's. He got to hear it one last time, just hours before Judith died at age 79 on August 5.

"Just to be able to say farewell and to hear that little voice in a sense, husky as it was, you can't ask for more than that," he revealed, fighting back tears. "She went happily, her spirituality conquered everything that she came across...

Judith's sister Beverley was with her when she died, and held the phone to her ear as the most well-known line-up of the Seekers Athol, Keith Potger and Bruce Woodley - said their sad goodbyes.
