When you're on television five mornings a week, invites to red carpets and A-list parties are a very common perk of the job. But for Sunrise's Matt Shirvington, "non-negotiable" if a flashy event clashes with some dates in his weekly diary, he won't be RSVPing!

"Tuesday is family taco night at my place and Friday is for takeaway," Shirvo, 45, tells New Idea in an exclusive new interview.

The meals are an opportunity for Shirvo to connect with his wife, Jessica, and their three children - two teens and a primary schooler - amidst the chaos that is brekkie TV. On weekends, the devoted dad can usually be found watching his kids play sport, instead of sleeping in.
