The Gucci Horsebit Loafer, which Aldo Gucci designed in 1953, turns 70 this year but still appears to be as trendy as ever. On the first day of Milan Men’s Fashion Week, the house hosted a fun party to commemorate its significant anniversary.
The tribute, which was presented at Spazio Maiocchi, was designed as an immersive multidisciplinary experience with a corresponding array of installations, live performances, exhibitions, and videos. The space was changed into a sort of countercultural meta country club dubbed the “Gucci Horsebeat Society”, where works by 10 emerging artists, many of whom used digital or AI-generated imagery, reinterpreted the iconography of the Horsebit, the metal clamp of a horse’s bridle, which is one of the maison’s most recognisable signifiers.
