Swathi, her mother Komal, and a friend of her mother had completed their tour of the temples and the exhibition. Even though taking the railway to Shoranur was a better alternative, Komal suggested taking a private bus. They arrived at the bus station and boarded a private bus going for Shoranur. The conductor moved closer to them. Komal extended her hand and handed money to the conductor, who was then informed. 'Viyoor Jail' The conductor was taken aback by her appearance. Swathi was studying the expression on her mother's face. They got off the bus and headed towards the jail door, where they saw a kiosk serving meals prepared by the inmates.
Komal went out and bought a pack of chapati's. Komal was asked by Hema. 'Was Das the one who made these chapatis?' Hema has a strong look from Komal.
Swathi lives in Angadipuram, a small village in Kerala, with her mother Komal, and grandmother. Swathi made few enquiries about her dad with the grandmother and came to find out the reasons for her mother's visit to Viyoor Jail. Swathi decided to write a letter to her dad even though she was not sure it will reach him.
Dear Dad
I am attempting to send you a letter. I'm not sure if you'll understand. Today is my 16th birthday, and I can't tell you how much I miss you. You left on my fourth birthday, which I vividly recall. It had been the worst day of my life. I still recall the police search of our home and your arrest in handcuffs.
I'm obliged to put down the letter because someone is approaching from upstairs. Later, I'll write again soon.
Swathi, your daughter.
