The invention of Mark Kennedy Bantugon could revolutionise the aviation industry. Known as Pili Seal, this completely sustainable sealant is derived from waste material from the native pili tree, widely grown in the Philippines for its edible nuts. He invented the product after realising that the country imports all its aviation sealants, also hoping to create jobs in farming communities. The invention won him a 2021 James Dyson Award.

Pili Seal is a new product invented to be an aviation sealant made from waste material, particularly the waste of Pili Tree resin, also called as “spent resin”. This product is beneficial and effective for aircraft applications (like to avoid) fuel leakage.
