Tantallon Castle
LOCATED on the east coast near North Berwick, Tantallon Castle is steeped in history and folklore, with tales of hauntings adding to its mystique. The castle's long and turbulent history has contributed to its reputation as a haunted site. One of the most famous ghostly encounters associated with Tantallon is the apparition of a Green Lady. Legend has it that she is the ghost of a woman who died at the castle. Some stories say she was a member of the Douglas family, while others claim she was a servant who threw herself to her death from the cliffs nearby after falling in love with the master of the castle. Witnesses have reported sightings of a spectral figure dressed in green roaming the castle grounds and some have even claimed to have taken photos of her. Visitors often report feeling an eerie sense of being watched or experiencing unexplained cold spots and strange sounds while exploring the castle's crumbling walls and echoing chambers.
