TWO goals inside five first-half minutes from Callum Stead helped a ruthless, but ailed, Barnet keep chase with Chesterfield at the top of the National League table.

But Bees boss Dean Brennan cut a frustrated figure afterwards, reflecting on their "worst performance of the season".

"We had so much domination but we were rubbish in the final third," Brennan moaned.

"We need to get our key players back, I was forced into selecting players and they haven't been good enough, that is why they are fringe players.

"They had their opportunity today and they didn't take it, the only player who did was Callum Stead.

"He has come out of the fringe group and scored his fifth goal, he deserves his plaudits." Oxford City started the day in the bottom four and having lost their previous three games – but second-placed Barnet, having scraped a point against fellow high-flyers Solihull Moors on Tuesday night, showed them no mercy.
