It’s derby delight for Daggers

Dagenham & Redbridge grabbed their first victory of the campaign when they found a late winner against high-flying Barnet.

This London derby looked set to end all-square only for an own goal from Barnet striker Nicke Kabamba to hand the Daggers a welcome three points.

“It’s a good feeling for me and everyone at the football club. Everyone has been really united over the last week,” said relieved Daggers boss Ben Strevens.

“Everything the players and staff put into this week came out in the performance. I felt we were playing well all the way up until the goal, although I know it came in fortuitous circumstances, but they have been at the top of the league for a reason.

“This is something for us to build on ahead of going to Wealdstone on Monday. I hope this is a building block because it’s really early in the season and you could fly up the table in a matter of weeks.”
