Heavyweight champ Fury contested a gripping trio of title fights with big-hitting American Deontay Wilder, controversially drawing the first before dominating the final two bouts.
Today’s pugilists are no less familiar having faced each other twice in April, Solihull nicking a 2-1 win in the FA Trophy semi-final before Woodman’s side triumphed 3-0 in the league.
Now they meet on the grandest stage of all, with a historic first promotion to the EFL at stake for whoever lands the knockout blow.
“That’s what’s quite funny about this game,” laughs Woodman, whose side finished third in the regular season and overcame Altrincham 3-1 in their home semi-final.
“It’s almost like a trilogy. They’ve won one. We’ve won one. Now it’s time for a decider. I almost feel like Tyson Fury when he took on Deontay Wilder – hopefully with the same result!
“We know so much about each other and I’m sure it’ll be another close contest. We’ll be nothing but respectful to Andy Whing and Solihull. We’ve got a job to do. They’ve got a job to do.
“Hopefully the best team on the day gets the result. Whoever wins, it’ll be a brand new team in the EFL, which is really nice. I just hope that’s Bromley.”
