Massive fire in Bopal's Iscon Platinum, 1 dead

A massive fire engulfed the Iscon Platinum apartments in Bopal late on Friday, causing panic among residents. The fire started in the electric duct on the eighth floor of the M wing and spread up to the 22nd floor.

A 65-year-old woman, Meena Shah, died during treatment at a private hospital due to excess inhalation of the smoke.

The Bopal fire station received the first call about the fire around 11 pm. Promptly responding to the call, firefighters and Bopal police reached the spot and rescued 37 people trapped in the building. Teams from Thaltej, Bodakdev, Prahladnagar and Navrangpura fire stations also joined to control the blaze. A total of 15 fire engines controlled the fire in about two-and-a-half hours using over 1 lakh litre of water.
