Rapid PMJAY approvals put health officials under scrutiny

Crime branch has health dept records of timing of these approvals

Investigators in the Khyati Hospital case have uncovered details, suggesting malpractice and a possible link between the hospital and some health department officials.

Sources in the city crime branch reveal that 32 operations were conducted between 2022 and 2024 across 19 medical camps in rural areas. Four recent camps were held in North Gujarat, including one in Borisana village near Kadi.

Investigators found that the health department quickly approved payments under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY). Approvals for other operations under different government schemes faced significant delays.

The crime branch now has records from the health department showing the timing of these approvals.

"We are investigating whether some health department officials were involved with Khyati Hospital in these illegal activities," a senior crime branch official said.
