Cases of overspeeding are on the rise in the city for the last three years and so is the penalty being imposed on such drivers. The traffic police in the last six months imposed a fine of Rs 9 crore on drivers for speeding while the Subhash Bridge RTO suspended the driving licences of 477 drivers during the same period. Of this amount, June alone accounted for Rs 2.30 crore. Traffic officials said in the last six months, over 45,000 cases of speeding were registered.
