Hours after he spoke to US President Joe Biden about his recent visit to war-ravaged Ukraine, Prime Minister Narendra Modi "exchanged perspectives" on the conflict with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday.
During a telephonic conversation with Putin, the prime minister Narendra Modi shared his "insights from the recent visit to Ukraine". He also reiterated "India's firm commitment to support an early, abiding and peaceful resolution of the (RussiaUkraine) conflict." He late on Monday had briefed the US president on his visit to Ukraine and conveyed India's full support for early return of peace to the region through dialogue and diplomacy.
According to Russia's stateowned Tass news agency, Modi confirmed to Putin that he will attend the BRICS summit to be held in Russia's south-western city of Kazan during October 22-24. This will be the first summit of the grouping after its expansion.
