MICHAEL Jackson would be alive today if his father had not been blocked from seeing him in what proved to be his final weeks, family lawyer Brian Oxman has claimed.

Terrified Joe Jackson confided that he feared his superstar son was going to overdose a month before his death at 50 from drugs on June 25, 2009 - but he failed to intervene.

The music family's patriarch reportedly told Mr Oxman his deepest fears for the frail singer, who had been poised for a career comeback in London with the This Is It residency.

Today, on the 15th anniversary of the shock death, the lawyer says Joe suspected Michael was using drugs, leaving him too unwell to perform.

The Thriller hitmaker had been rehearsing for the O2 Arena when he was found unresponsive in his LA home weeks before his first sell-out show.

He died from cardiac arrest, caused by an overdose of propofol and benzodiazepine.
