RORY MCILROY says nobody will run away with the title a la Martin Kaymer after the four-time Major champion faltered in the second round of the US Open.
Having posted his first bogey-free opening round at a Major since his 2014 Open win at Royal Liverpool, McIlroy suffered a rude awakening in the blistering North Carolina heat en route to a two-over 72.
In 2014, the last time the event was held at Pinehurst No.2, Kaymer surged to an eight-shot win.
