THE mum of prison break spy Daniel Khalife has defended her son, saying: "He doesn't live in reality - he needs help." Ex-soldier Khalife, 23, was convicted on Thursday of selling secrets to Iran, putting military personnel at serious risk of harm.
But mum Farnaz Khalife, 48, said: "He doesn't think about what he is going to do. He gets things in his brain.
"He doesn't think about the consequences. It's not reality, it's a fantasy. It's like he has two personalities nice, kind and caring but inside there is something telling him to do things." Farnaz, a former nurse, said her son's behaviour worsened when he became obsessed with the video game Grand Theft Auto as a teen.
