A SHADOW Cabinet minister has told how his fight against anti-gay laws triggered his interest in politics.

Steve Reed said he came out when there was a lot of fear around being gay due to the AIDS crisis and Section 28, which banned the promotion of homosexuality by schools and councils.

The 60-year-old Labour MP was speaking on Party Games, a new Mirror YouTube podcast where politicians chat to us about their childhood and their life as an MP over a fun children's game - in this case Buckaroo!.
