Inquest told cold water shock killed Nicola, 45

TWO people near the spot where tragic mum Nicola Bulley was last seen heard a "short scream" at around the time it is believed she fell into a river and drowned, her inquest heard.

Experts told the hearing that mum-of-two Nicola, 45, would have died within seconds due to cold water shock.

She vanished while walking by the River Wyre in St Michael's on Wyre, Lancs, on January 27. Her body was found on February 19 less than a mile downstream from where her phone and dog had been found.

Dr Paddy Morgan, medical director to HM Coastguard, told the hearing in Preston that cold water shock meant someone could only hold their breath for "10 seconds at best and most likely one to two".
