A YEAR after her son Ronan was stabbed to death, Pooja Kanda's grief is compounded by the fact she feels little is being done to halt knife crime.
The distraught mum has now demanded a meeting with Rishi Sunak and urged the PM to crack down on those who carry blades and others who sell them to prevent more families suffering heartache.
Ronan, 16, was murdered by two fellow pupils with a sword they bought online after the pair mistook him for another boy with whom they had a row.
One of them picked it up the morning of the attack using his mum's ID before plunging it into the innocent youngster's back and piercing his heart.
Pooja was joined by her daughter Nikita, 22, and Ronan's dad Chander at a family-organised anti-knife-crime march yesterday.
ANSWERS
In an interview with the Mirror, the 46-year-old demanded tougher sentences for possession of blades such as zombie knives and ninja swords.
Pooja said: "It breaks my heart to know knife crime is growing and nothing is being done to stop it.
"We need parents, communities, ministers and Rishi Sunak to do more.
"I want to meet with Mr Sunak and show him the pain I'm feeling and beg him to do more.
"I want to speak to him about the legislation. Why can't they stop selling these knives online?
"Why are they available? What purpose do they have? They are for killing other human beings.
"We need harsher punishments for carrying knives. There is no deterrent. The punishments are a joke. I want answers, I want more policing, I want stronger sentencing. I believe this is the only way to bring knife crime down.
"Our knife crime is like America's gun crime. How many more families have to be destroyed before something is done?
