KAYLEY Asher was 15 months old when "Angel of Death" nurse Beverley Allitt tried to kill her by injecting an air bubble into her arm, which caused the toddler's lungs to collapse and triggered two cardiac arrests.
Lucy Letby attacked many of her tiny victims in the same way, and her case has brought back horrific memories for Kayley's family.
Her mum Sharon, 63, and dad Alan, 66, followed the Letby trial and were horrified that NHS bosses had not learned lessons from the inquiry that was held after Allitt's killing spree.
Allitt was given 13 life sentences in 1993 for killing four babies and harming nine others at the Grantham and Kesteven Hospital.
Sharon, who still lives in Grantham, Lincs, said: "Allitt was killing in plain sight and what she did went totally unnoticed.
"This Letby case has brought it all back. My husband just shields Kayley from it.
"But all we say is this, 'Why weren't lessons learned? This has all happened before"." She said Kayley, now 33, was "terrified" of Letby, who on Monday refused to attend court to be given a whole life term for murdering seven babies and attempting to murder six more at the Countess of Chester Hospital in Cheshire.
WORRIED Sharon said: "Lessons have not been learnt from Grantham. Kayley has found it very difficult. She's even asked if this nurse will come and get her. She has special needs so she can't quite gather that they are talking about two separate people. She's terrified.
"She was worried when they said Letby would not appear in court for sentencing. She was worried she would come out and get her that weekend. I had to explain to her that she would still be locked up.
