MADELEINE McCann suspect Christian Brueckner may escape charges over her disappearance after a court ruling in Germany.
The paedophile, 45, had a string of rape charges dropped yesterday when it was decided the authorities probing him had no jurisdiction in any of the cases.
Brueckner's lawyer Friedrich Fuelscher said the German investigation into claims he snatched Madeleine should also be shelved.
But prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters suggested he would appeal and the probe would continue.
