Packham blast over training ground plan: SPURS 1..PLANET O

TV star Chris Packham says Spurs' bid to turn part of a park into a football academy is an own goal in the fight to save the planet.

An attempt to overturn a decision to lease the land to the club has been thrown out by the High Court.

Springwatch presenter and naturalist Chris, 63, said: "What's the score at the moment? Tottenham 1, Planet 0.

"We are going to lose so much valuable space... to a small group of people behind fences who kick a ball around. It's nonsensical." He added: "There'll be no football on a dead planet. We are up against the bloated monster that is the Premier League.

"It's another case of David versus Goliath." Spurs hope to turn part of Whitewebbs Park, in Enfield, North London, into a women's football academy.
