Teddy Sheringham won three trophies in 11 days with Manchester United in 1999 three more than Harry Kane has won in his 500 games of club football.
Sheringham deserted Tottenham for United 26 years ago in search of winner's medals, and by the time the striker made the return journey in 2001, he had won the Premier League title three times in four seasons.
Now he is telling Kane, 29, to seriously consider following in his footsteps because the path from north London's Lilywhite heartlands to Old Trafford was paved with gold for an elite handful the southbound carriageway, not so much.
"He's at a crossroads in the sense that he's coming into his prime, and he's got a big decision to make for the next four years of his life," said Sheringham, 57, speaking to William Hill.
"He needs to properly analyse the situation and assess what he wants.
