Jones insists England made a mistake playing Marcus at full-back

FORMER England boss Eddie Jones says his successor Steve Borthwick has blundered by picking Marcus Smith at fullback because he is not a 15.

Jones left behind a storm in Australia when he quit the Wallabies last weekend following their early exit from the World Cup.

Smith, a fly-half for his entire career before the World Cup warm-up games, started as the last line of defence in England's knockout clashes with Fiji and Argentina in France after never playing there at club level.

With Owen Farrell almost certain to start the Six Nations at 10, Harlequin Smith (with Borthwick, right) could be in a scrap with Freddie Steward for the 15 shirt on
