BEN STOKES admits his ODI retirement U-turn was driven by the dream of winning another World Cup.
And after coming through the emotional and physical roller-coaster of The Ashes in decent shape, England's Test skipper knew he had something to offer pal Jos Buttler.
There was no pressure from white-ball captain Buttler or coach Matthew Mott for Stokes to make himself available for the tournament in India, which starts on October 5.
But as the 32-year-old looked back to just over a year ago, when he quit the 50-over game, he chuckled at just how quickly things can change when a World Cup spot is on offer.
