Rees-Zammit shocks rugby as he quits Wales to chase glory stateside in the NFL

WHILE Louis Rees-Zammit pursues his childhood dream of becoming an NFL star, Warren Gatland will be trying to build a new side to take to the 2027 World Cup. 

Losing one of his biggest assets may have come as a bolt out of the blue for the Wales head coach, but he refused to be sidetracked by the biggest bombshell to be dropped on Welsh rugby since Jonathan Davies signed for Widnes in 1989.

Back then there was always a fear of the leading Welsh players joining rugby league, but the departure from the game of Rees-Zammit came right out of left field. "Louis has been a big fan of NFLand he's got a very high profile on social media - this will help to enhance that," said Gatland.
