Donald takes wildcard gamble on rookie sensation Aberg

LUDVIG ABERG cannot wait to feel the pressure of the Ryder Cup in Rome after his shock wildcard call-up.

And the impatient Swedish sensation, who turned pro only in June, wants to win more tournaments in a hurry to become world No.1.

European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald said he was "blown away" by Aberg at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in June, when the Swede shot rounds of 65 and 67 while playing with his skipper.

When Donald "challenged" the 23-year-old to play the final two qualifying events on the DP World Tour, he finished tied fourth at the Czech Masters and won the Omega European Masters with a finalround 64.

The Europeans will bid to win back the Ryder Cup after the whipping in Whistling Straits in 2021.
