JACK BAIRD helped Morton climb off bottom spot in the Championship as the Cappielow battlers breathed life into their drop fight.

Dougie Imrie's Ton notched back-to-back league wins for the first time this season to move up to seventh-just two points behind Inverness and three adrift of Airdrie in fifth.

George Oakley set them on their way when he opened the scoring against his former club with a glorious first-half lob for his fifth of the season.

And Baird sealed the points when he netted his first league goal with 10 minutes to go.

Although there was a nervy finish when Caley Thistle sub Adam Brooks halved the deficit in injury time, Ton held on to leap three spots.
