CYSTIC FIBROSIS DRUGS SAVED

THE threat to remove vital drugs from cystic fibrosis patients has been quashed with a new NHS deal.

It was feared the life-saving treatment could have been withdrawn for children under two because it was too expensive.

But the threat has been lifted and all CF patients in Scotland will receive the medicines Kaftrio, Symkevi and Orkambi.

Maggie Gallacher, whose daughter Kelli, 30, suffers from the disorder, welcomed the decision but said: "The threat that those over two would get it and those under two would not was uncalled for.

"They didn't need to panic the community."
