Decades of xenophobia led to rise in survey hatred of refugees in the UK

HUMZA Yousaf has warned that “decades of institutional xenophobia” has caused a rise in hate among Britons towards refugees.

The former SNP leader spoke out after a poll found 36 per cent of adults across the UK agreed when asked if xenophobic acts of violence were justified if they resulted in “fewer refugees being settled in your town”.

Yousaf has been locked in a war of words with billionaire tech boss Elon Musk in recent days.

The former first minister branded the owner of X, formerly Twitter, as "dangerous" following a wave of racist messages shared on the social media platform.

Musk hit back and suggested he could leak private messages sent by Yousaf on X.
