Leven prepared to hold fort until summer to allow club to get the right man for Pittodrie hotseat

PETER LEVEN would take the Aberdeen job until the end of the season - if it gives the board the time to get the right boss.

The first-team coach, who last week admitted it was a privilege to be taking the Pittodrie post, has led them to back-to-back wins over Motherwell and Ross County.

Leven has steadied the ship in his caretaker role and those victories have given them a bit of breathing space, moving six points clear of the relegation play-off spot.

The hierarchy are also aware that, as well as improving results, Leven has lifted spirits and confidence inside Cormack Park.

He has the full backing of the Dons dressing room too.

Chairman Dave Cormack and Co are in the final stages of their managerial search and Elfsborg coach Jimmy Thelin is very much in their thinking right now.
