MODEST hero Duncan Scott is on top of the sporting world today but before he left for Paris he told the Daily Record he was just "happy to make the team".

The swimmer entered the pantheon of all-time Olympic greats on Tuesday when he matched Sir Chris Hoy's Scottish record of seven medals.

The man they call Slam Dunks brought the 4x200m relay squad home again to take a second consecutive Co Olympic title, cheered on by a fervent team of in Paris Team GB supporters in the Defense Aquatic Centre in Paris.

Duncan, though, was quick to play down comparisons to the super cyclist, saying: "I should never be compared to Chris Hoy.

"I'm nowhere near the level of athlete Chris Hoy has been - I think that's taking away from what he's achieved." The 27-year-old was quick to praise his colleagues, saying: "I've had so many medals won by relay team-mates and I can't thank them enough for what they do and how much they've done.
