Goal hero Scales says four star Celts will really hit the heights once they sharpen up and get more clinical

LIAM SCALES reckons there's even more to come from Celtic once they get clinical and tidier.

The Irish defender was on target on day one as Brendan Rodgers' side charged straight on to the Premiership summit.

Scales' header from a Matt O'Riley corner gave the home side a two-goal half-time cushion when he added to Reo Hatate's opener.

Further goals after the break from Nicolas Kuhn and sub Anthony Ralston chalked up the four that placed the Hoops in their customary position at the top of the league pile.

Scales was delighted to get the campaign started in such a strong fashion but is convinced there are even brighter days ahead.

He said: "There's more to come.

The manager was new in last pre-season and we were learning his style. But now we know it so we can continue on from where we left off last season.

"It was a good performance but it's our first game back and once we pick up momentum we can be more clinical and tidier. There's room for improvement."

Scales was happy to get on the scoresheet but just as thrilled to keep the back door closed alongside his central defensive partner Cameron Carter-Vickers.

He added: "First game back you want a clean sheet and to get the goal is a bonus. I don't get many but we want as many clean sheets as possible so that was the target before the game.

"I could have had a second but I was unlucky with one cleared off the line."
