GARY ANDERSON thanked Jamie Murray for his backing as he served a serious notice of Ally Pally intent.

The two-time king launched his Paddy Power World Championship hat-trick bid in style with a smooth win over Simon Whitlock.

Tennis ace Murray was in the crowd cheering on his countryman and Anderson was glad of the extra support as he attempts to lurk in the London shadows.

He said: "It's nice to meet Jamie. I've met his mum. He's flying off to Australia for the tennis on Boxing Day I think.

"You come up that hill and you see this building. If you don't poo your pants, then you shouldn't be here.

"This is the Worlds, this is what every player dreams about.

The boys who have been playing for 10 years plus, they want a shot on that stage.
