FORMER Rangers administrator David Grier has had his £5million wrongful prosecution compensation claim booted out by the UK's highest court.

Grier was seeking massive sums from the Lord Advocate over alleged malicious prosecution after the controversial administration of the club in 2012.

But after years of litigation the rich businessman has been told his prosecution was not malicious by the Supreme Court in London.

Grier, a top executive for accountancy firm Duff and Phelps, had hoped to follow in the footsteps of associates David Whitehouse and Paul Clark, who each received £10.3million and had all legal fees paid after it was accepted that they should never have been prosecuted.

But instead he is facing a large legal bill after a panel of three judges ruled his application "does not raise an arguable point of law".
