Newborn's parents forced to leave other sons on island
Heart-wrenching

THE parents of a newborn baby who needs urgent heart surgery have been forced to leave their two young sons behind at their island home - and may not be back for months.

Hayley Thomson, 26, travelled with partner Scott Cross, 38, from Islay to Paisley's Royal Alexandra Hospital to deliver baby Alexander on June 16.

But they have been forced to remain at the hospital after medics discovered their tiny baby had a hole in his heart.

Little Alexander needs constant medical care until he can undergo life-saving surgery.

Hayley and Scott have vowed to remain at his bedside but it has meant her two sons Aiden, eight, and Aaron, three, have been left on the Inner Hebrides.

Scott told the Record the family face a four-month wait before they can be reunited. He said: "Our whole lives have been turned upside down.
