200,000 Scotland supporters on the march to Munich as exodus begins ahead of tournament

THE biggest mobilisation of the Tartan Army in history has finally begun as Scots descend on Germany from all four corners of the world.

Manoeuvres for the Euro Championships will begin today, when the first of 200,000 footsoldiers report for duty at airports, train stations and ferry ports.

Some will fly direct to Germany while many will take more circuitous routes to avoid the £1000 one-way air fares charged by some airlines.

Sporran Legion members living abroad have detailed their German airborne missions, from countries including the United States, Singapore and Ireland.

Two lads are flying in from Australia - even though they don't have tickets.

Nick Strozyk and mate Stevie Anderson thought it would "not be a problem" to land briefs for Scotland's games against Germany, Switzerland and Hungary.

They used social media to make a last-minute request for tickets but as things stand they will leave Perth, Western Australia, early on Thursday morning more in hope than belief.

They will fly five-and-a-half hours to Singapore, followed by a 13-hour flight to Frankfurt, arriving at 6pm (local time) the same day.

Nick, 41, a commercial manager in the construction industry, originally hails from Erskine in Renfrewshire.

Stevie is a 40-year-old electrician from Cumbernauld.
