FRANCO SMITH has played down speculation linking him with the South Africa job.
The Glasgow Warriors boss was capped nine times by the Springboks during his playing days in the 1990s and now has extensive coaching experience from across the globe.
Reigning world champions South Africa are currently coached by Jacques Nienaber, who recently announced he is moving to Leinster after this autumn's World Cup.
And legendary Springbok second-row Victor Matfield has named Smith as one of three candidates he would like to see given the job.
